Samsung Confirms Highly Anticipated Galaxy Z Fold Launch Details

3 min read

Samsung has officially announced that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in Paris on July 10th. At this event, the South Korean company will introduce its latest foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold6, alongside the Z Flip6 and a range of new accessories.

The foldable devices are expected to attract considerable attention. They continue to push the boundaries of design, featuring flexible screens, sturdy hinges, and a unique form factor that differs from traditional candy bar phones in terms of internal space utilization.

Samsung aims to push the boundaries of innovation with its upcoming devices, though this ambition might necessitate some compromises in specifications to accommodate everything. For instance, there’s speculation that the camera hardware in the new devices could be reminiscent of what debuted in the 2022 Galaxy Z Fold4.

Alongside these devices, Samsung will also unveil three pivotal peripherals. These include the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Buds3, as well as the Galaxy Ring fitness and health tracker. Teased initially at January’s Galaxy Unpacked event, specific details regarding its capabilities and software remain sparse at this time.

Update as of Thursday, June 27th: Samsung has not only confirmed the date for its Galaxy Unpacked launch but has also initiated its first pre-release offer to customers.

The company has distributed a survey offering a £50 discount voucher to participants upon completion. This voucher will remain valid for two weeks following the Unpacked event, where Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. Although specific model numbers have not been disclosed (the voucher simply mentions ‘new Galaxy smartphones’), it is intended for use towards a new foldable device post-July 10th.

It’s not the only voucher on offer, as a £25 voucher for “new ecosystem products” will also be included for everyone who completes the survey.

Finally, Samsung will enter each survey into a prize draw with ten £1000 vouchers available. You must have submitted by July 9th, winners will be announced on July 17th

Samsung’s pre-order offer currently doesn’t specify which phone customers can order. At this stage, Samsung has announced the launch of new “Galaxy foldables” at Unpacked. However, it’s highly unlikely that the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 won’t make an appearance.

Despite this ambiguity, retailers are already accepting orders and providing detailed information about the upcoming phones. Roland Quandt from Winfuture reports on an Austrian retailer that has released final renders of both the Flip and Fold models, showcasing the planned retail colors for each. The Z Flip6 will come in four pastel shades: green, silver, sky blue, and yellow. Meanwhile, the Fold6 will be available in silver, navy blue, and rose gold.

While the hardware will be the biggest reveal for consumers, those looking at Samsung’s wider strategy will focus on the improvements and new tools that will be added to Galaxy AI. Launched alongside the Galaxy S24 family in January, Samsung has the highest market share of any AI-enabled smartphone since Google opened up the category with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in October 2023.

Samsung will expect the launch of two of the biggest foldable phones to continue in the first place and extend its lead as the leading AI smartphone manufacturer.
